STAR Lab is affiliated to School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, The University of Queensland. With Associate Professor Yan Liu as the director, our lab is formed of highly skilful people in Geographic Information System (GIS), Spatial Science, Human Geography, Urban Modelling, Remote Sensing, Demography and Urban Planning. For what we are working on, please see more details in Project page.

We have rich experiences to conduct research and industry projects focusing on:

Transport Policy and Travel Behaviour by Big Data (Smart-card data)
International Migration
Climate Change
Land Use Land Cover and Urban Modelling
Cellular Automata (CA) and Agent Based Modelling (ABM)
GIS Application in Social Science/Neighbourhood Studies
Geo-Visualisation
Spatial Statistical Analysis
Environmental Decisions
Scenario Projections
Remote Sensing
Participatory GIS

Our team are highly professional in using various spatial and statistical software such as:

ERSI ArcGIS Package
R Studio
Q-GIS
GeoDa
ENVI
AutoCAD
Google Sketch-up
SPSS and its extensions (e.g. AMOS)
Excel Statistics
Python Programming
Adobe Design Suits (Photoshop, InDesign and AffectEffects)
